Keepers of the Embers
2022
This series explores the role of the artist in society, within the historical continuum of human culture. It speaks to the responsibility of preserving the spark of creativity, artistic action, and original individual thought.
In these works, there is a call to longtime companions from the world of visual art—to be present, to stand guard, and to ensure the ongoing flow of creation.
Amorphous figures, reminiscent of demons and beasts, are summoned—awakening from their confinement.
The paintings are characterized by bold brushstrokes and dark tones. The imagery shifts between the abstract and the concrete, sometimes elusive, sometimes sharply defined.
For me, this body of work is both a personal reflection and a quiet protest. In a world that moves fast and often forgets, I feel compelled to pause, to listen, and to paint. These pieces are my way of reaching out—toward those who still carry the torch, and those who may have set it down for a while.
